With most counsellors, you need to make an appointment, and take the time to go to their office. Many people need to miss work, and while this can be an act of self-care, it can also add to the stress or anxiety that you are already experiencing. Rainstorm Counselling & Consulting offers free initial consults and many flexible choices in counselling. Check out the drop-down menu under “Services” to find out more.
Available in Victoria and throughout British Columbia:
- therapeutic email based sessions, and
- phone or video counselling.
For those in Greater Victoria:
- Walk & Talk Therapy,
- home visits (for those in the Greater Victoria area, currently on hold), and
- traditional office visits (for those in the Greater Victoria area, currently on hold).
Please note I hope to have home visits and office visits re-established for January 2022.
Counselling services offered by Registered Social Workers are often covered by private insurance companies, or through extended health care benefits and health care spending accounts. I am an approved counselling provider for many different plans.
Payments are due prior to the session, or prior to the counsellor’s therapeutic email being sent. I accept email transfer, cash, or personal cheque. (No credit cards please.)
If you forget the appointment and do not show, the full amount is still charged (with the exception of email counselling).
The clinical counselling services of Registered Social Workers are HST/GST EXEMPT. This is because:
- Canada Revenue Agency recognizes Social Work as a health profession, and
- Social Workers have their own College that polices their conduct.
In addition to RSWs, as of this writing only Psychiatrists and Registered Psychologists qualify for this exemption. This means that you can claim the fees I charge as a medical expense when you file your taxes each year. To learn more about my rates, click here.
